Jessica joined Kampmeier & Knutsen as an associate attorney in 2020. After graduating from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, she joined the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta, Georgia as a Staff Attorney. After two years of reviewing federal civil and criminal appeals, she left to follow her dream of a career fighting for the environment. Oceans and rivers are her passion, and she loves working to protect them for the health and enjoyment of humans and creatures alike.
Originally from San Francisco, California, Jessica graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a bachelor’s degree and honors in political science. After finishing her undergraduate work, she returned to her hometown to study environmental law from an interdisciplinary approach, including study of environmental crimes, international environmental law, and food justice issues.
During law school, she was the Editor-in-Chief of the Hastings Environmental Law Journal, where she worked with environmental legal activists to publish their cutting-edge efforts in their fight for environmental justice. She also interned with Earthjustice’s International Program and the California Attorney General’s Environment Division, gaining practical experience across a variety of environmental issues and cementing her desire to pursue a career protecting the environment. Jessica has published three pieces of work: two student notes, one defining the Paris Agreement as a non-binding agreement and another analyzing how environmental harms constitute crimes against humanity, and an interview with Julia Olson, the architect of the climate change lawsuit, Juliana v. United States. When Jessica graduated in 2018, she did so with cum laude honors, the Hastings’ Public Interest Achievement Award, and the California State Bar’s Executive Committee Scholarship for Environmental Law.
Jessica is admitted to practice in California.
In her free time, Jessica enjoys triathlons, cooking, crocheting, and exploring her new home in the Pacific Northwest.
